2/5 I've gone to the GoodLife Fitness...

I've gone to the GoodLife Fitness Walkley on and off for more than a year now and I can happily state that I will definitely not be renewing my membership. The majority of the staff are nice and friendly but there are some that don't make you feel welcome at all. Some would just take my card, scan it then give it back to me without even looking at me. I find the equipment to be too close to each other which makes me feel unsafe at times and I like having my space. During the summer, it gets super duper warm in there that at the end of my workout, I pretty much look like a penguin -- my face gets really pale and my cheeks become super red. During the winter months, it can get really dirty due to the snow outside, especially on slushy days. I go on the elliptical a lot and I find that some of them can get pretty dirty and muddy. I have no problem with the change room, only I believe they need a few more benches, especially during the peak hours of the day. The group exercises are usually fun. I go to Zumba weekly and I find that it gets too crowded. I basically don't have enough room to move. I would definitely not recommend this specific club. The only convenience for me is that I live very close to the club.

I was pretty much scammed at the Goodlife off of Merivale Road, I had won a "free week trial" and I went in to redeem it and walked out with a year membership plus personal trainer. They said the free week was added onto my year membership..which is stupid. And when I tried to cancel they said the only was to to transfer my membership or pay about 100$. So I had to pay since no one else on Kijiji wanted my membership. I did end up going to one spinning session, which I really liked, but that was the only positive part.

From CBC News Attempt to cancel gym membership turned violent, client says An Ottawa man who tried to cancel his gym membership on the weekend said Tuesday his gym not only refused his request, but called security guards who then roughed him up. An Ottawa man who tried to cancel his gym membership on the weekend said Tuesday his gym not only refused his request, but called security guards who then roughed him up. Last week, a CBC investigation revealed that some Canadian fitness clubs may have collected hundreds of millions of dollars by continuing to debit the accounts of former members after they tried to cancel their memberships. In an Ipsos-Reid poll for the CBC, 39 per cent of Canadian gym-goers reported problems with over-billing. Computer programmer Christopher Probst has been trying to stop his membership at the Goodlife Gym in the Rideau Centre since August. "I'm travelling all the time, so I don\'t really need it," he said. A Goodlife manager wrote to Probst telling him he had to come in person to cancel his membership. Probst is currently working in Portland, Oregon. But last weekend he was in Ottawa, so he went to the Rideau Centre to cancel his card. But, he said, a staff member told him to go away and phone for an appointment. He said he told her he was on his way to the airport, and he continued to insist on canceling it then. She got up, and she said, "Listen, I'm going to ask you to leave the gym, and I'm going to call security.' And, she said, I'm barring you from all Goodlifes across Canada, and I'm going to cancel your membership later" Probst said. He said he wanted the contract cancelled immediately, and he was still waiting when two security guards arrived. "They actually came screaming in my face, and I said to security, 'Is there a way we can discuss this civilly?' And they said, 'You need to leave now, I'm giving you two seconds.' And the next thing I know is that they're pummeling me, and I\'m hearing, "He's resisting arrest, he's resisting arrest," Probst said. According to Probst, security guards handcuffed, and held him until police could take him into custody. However, the two police officers who arrived freed Probst, who was then able to catch his flight to Oregon. He said the officers also visited the gym to ensure that his membership finally was cancelled. The Rideau Centre, which declined to comment on this incident, has banned Probst for five years. Goodlife didn\'t return calls.

The one I go to is Walkley Road. Many of the instructors are totally awesome and I love the Goodlife gym. I have been a member for about 10 years, going three times a week. The staff is professional and the gym is clean.

The place should be called "Good Mess" as the one I go to in the west end is always a mess and staff never are around to speak to the numerous members who leave their weights around.

Excellent instructors, terrible management. As long as you are a member the manager does not want to take time to listen a complaint or have discussion. There is no a feed back on complaints.
